Dear Readers,

The fourth edition of Yvirá arrives with extremely relevant themes for now and tomorrow. Speaking of now, in the “Worth noting” section, we present ways to deal with the anxiety generated by the ENEM (National High School Exam), which annually mobilizes millions of students. We do this from the perspective of a classroom educator, Rafaela Oliveira Araújo, and a researcher on the topic, neuropsychologist Rochele Paz Fonseca.

Speaking of now, in the “Worth noting” section, we present ways to deal with the anxiety generated by the ENEM (National High School Exam), which annually mobilizes millions of students.

In the article section, “Proof or dare”, researcher Denise de Souza Fleith shows us how creative thinking has become an essential skill in our time. It can be a transformative skill that fosters the development of cognitive abilities and promotes the expression of socio-emotional skills. Denise presents practical examples of what to do in the classroom to develop creative thinking in children and adolescents.

Looking to the future, we bring you an enlightening article about the recently created National Education System (SNE), written by José Henrique Paim Fernandes, former Minister of Education.

And speaking of creativity, Priscilla Oliveira Silva Bomfim, a professor at the Fluminense Federal University, offers in the “Break” section some suggestions on how to make streaming platforms our allies when faced with the challenge of limiting screen time. Some series can help us educate and foster critical thinking in children.

This edition’s interview features Marcelo Viana, general director of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), which coordinates the Math Olympiads, an initiative that involves tens of millions of Brazilian students. In an age of artificial intelligence and algorithms, Marcelo discusses the growing importance of mathematics in our daily lives and how we can overcome prejudices related to a discipline essential to human and national development.

In the “What about?” section, we invited experts to discuss the importance of public policies in strengthening special education and consolidating school inclusion, such as recognizing the right to bilingual education for deaf students and understanding the cognitive differences of students with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Looking to the future, we bring you an enlightening article about the recently created National Education System (SNE), written by José Henrique Paim Fernandes, former Minister of Education. The creation of the SNE was widely celebrated, but an inevitable question arises among teachers: how will it change classroom work? In the short term, perhaps nothing—but this is far from a reason for disinterest.

On the contrary, it is time to reflect on how we can participate in its implementation and how its guidelines will impact us. After all, the development of national quality standards in such a diverse and unequal country directly affects the daily lives of teachers. It involves training, working hours, and professional development, essential pillars of a more inclusive and transformative public education.

Well, Yvirá brings up topics that interest us all. Enjoy reading!
