Dear Reader Community,

Another issue of YVIRÁ is now available, as always bringing you burning and relevant topics about Education, illuminated by the joint work of researchers and teachers.

In this issue you will find three texts on the topic of the moment: the impact of technologies on the work of teachers and on student learning. In an article in the section “Proof or dare?”, researcher Maria Beatriz Linhares talks about the controversial relationship between children and screens. How to take advantage of it? How to control it? On this general topic, don’t miss also the interview we did with researcher Rosa Vicari, who leads a fascinating successful project in the Brazilian State of Piauí, aiming at the use of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. And more: Professor Aretusa Brito’s concern about this topic is discussed by Professor Ronaldo Mota in the “What about?” section. After all, are digital technologies beneficial or harmful?

But of course, not everything in real life is about technology. In the “Science counts” section, researcher Andrea Deslandes presents us with a chronicle about two recent scientific articles reporting the practical pedagogical benefits of using Capoeira in the school environment.

Not only children should benefit from education. Professor Jaqueline Cunha, in the “Worth noting” section, recounts her vast experience with the education of the elderly in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. And contemporary pedagogy doesn’t live on digital technologies alone. It’s necessary not to abandon handwriting, as reported by our journalist Elisa Martins.

Finally, but no less importantly, in the “Break” section, we present to you a review of Raquel Freitag’s important book on the topic of “Linguistic Variation”.

That’s all we have to offer in issue #6 of YVIRÁ! Enjoy, and if you haven’t already, subscribe to our magazine to receive it free of charge with each issue.
